Aloha, my name Jo Ann Bocok. I have been on the faculty here since 1983, twenty-two years teaching 8th grade and the remainder in grade one or one/two. My two brothers, my daughter Julie, and I are all proud 8th grade graduates of this school and high school graduates of Hawaiian Mission Academy.
When I was a student here, the Honolulu Japanese SDA Church held services in these classrooms and the auditorium so I was invited to attend. Because of my teachers and classmates, my brothers and I became Adventists. Today I am a member of the Honolulu Japanese SDA Church in Manoa and serve as a greeter and an elder. I also fly out to do children’s ministry on the island of Lanai once a month.
I attended Walla Walla College, Pacific Union College, and Andrews University. My Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education is from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and my Master’s degree in Elementary Education is from the University of Hawaii in Manoa.
My dedicated teachers taught me well and I want to pay that forward to my students and their families.
