I am delighted to be on the HMA Ka Lama Iki staff.  I was born and raised in Honolulu and started attending our school in the fifth grade.  I went on to graduate from Hawaiian MIssion Academy.  As part of my college experience, I served as a taskforce worker in Covelo, California teaching grades K-4.  After graduating from Pacific Union College, I received a call to a world missions position in Himeji, Japan.

I returned to the United States after a year, and began teaching first and second graders at South Bay Junior Academy in Southern California.  Two years later, I accepted a position teaching at San Gabriel Elementary and Intermediate School teaching first graders and then second graders for the next 5 years.  In 1987, I completed my Masters Degree in Education at  La Sierra University and married my husband, Steve Asatani.

In 1990, God called me to teach back home in Hawaii at Windward Adventist School.  We made the move to Oahu with our newborn daughter, Brittany.   Two years later our son, Ryan, was born.  In 1995, I was thrilled to be asked to teach first grade at Hawaiian Mission Elementary and Intermediate School, now known as HMA Ka Lama Iki.  What a privilege to come back here!  In 2010, I started teaching the K-1 combination class.  This will be my first year teaching solely kindergarten.  I am so excited!

I love teaching the little ones and hope to  lead them into a loving relationship with Jesus and with each other.  My favorite past times are spending time with my family and friends, going hiking, going to the beach, and dabbling in photography.
